Sep 27, 2025 | Case Study

A large manufacturing company undertook the closure of its Irish facility as part of a strategic relocation to Eastern Europe. As part of this complex transition, the client required specialist packaging solutions to prepare more than 150 machines for long-term storage and international transport.

The procurement manager engaged our team to manage the full scope of packaging requirements, ensuring compliance with international shipping standards while protecting high-value machinery throughout extended transit and storage periods.

The Challenge

Each machine within the facility was unique in size, weight, and configuration, requiring a tailored packaging solution. Key challenges included:

  • Crating over 150 machines to ISPM 15 standards
  • Designing bespoke crates for non-standard equipment
  • Managing extended storage and international shipping conditions
  • Implementing vacuum-sealed packaging and moisture protection
  • Coordinating an intensive, time-sensitive packing operation onsite

To meet these requirements, the client requested a full site survey, detailed measurements, and custom-designed crates specific to each machine.

Our Solution

Our experienced onsite team conducted a comprehensive site survey, capturing all technical and dimensional data required for each machine. This information was used to:

  • Produce precise cutting lists
  • Generate accurate quotations
  • Optimise material usage and minimise waste
  • Design bespoke ISPM 15–compliant crates for every item

Following project approval, our team remained onsite for a two-month period, managing the entire packing operation. This included:

  • Vacuum sealing for long-term protection
  • Installation of desiccants, moisture-control materials, and protective accessories
  • Application of clear shipping labels and handling instructions
  • Quality checks to ensure each machine was fully prepared for overseas transport

Outcome

The project was completed on schedule and to a high professional standard. All machinery was safely prepared for long-term storage and international relocation, meeting both regulatory and client-specific requirements.

The customer expressed strong satisfaction with:

  • The quality and reliability of the bespoke packaging solutions
  • The professionalism and expertise of our onsite team
  • Our ability to manage a complex, large-scale relocation from start to finish

Conclusion

This project reinforced our capability to deliver end-to-end packaging and relocation support for large manufacturing environments, even under demanding timelines and technical constraints. Our hands-on approach, attention to detail, and onsite presence ensured a successful outcome for a critical business transition.
